Join the Shires of Coldedernhale and Schattentor July 11th – 14th at Buryanek recreation area for this new event. Located on the shores of the Missouri River near Platte, South Dakota this scenic location will be the site of three days of fighting, arts, bardic fires and feasting.
There will Arts and Sciences work time, fiber dying, pewter casting, coining, armored combat, including beach battles, period rapier and cut and thrust. There will also be games and activities for all ages.
Site: Buryanek Recreation Area, 27450 Buryanek Road, Burke, SD 57523
Site opens/closes: 4PM Thursday, 4PM Sunday
Fees: $5 site fee, under 16 free. $5 non-member surcharge.
State park entrance fee: Daily license $4 per person or $6 per vehicle/ day or annual permit.
Site is handicapped accessible near main campground, has showers and does allow alcoholic beverages as well as a nice swim beach.
Site fee includes primitive camping although those wanting to camp with electric hook ups and/or a camper will need to reserve at campsd.com
Food:There will be a meal plan (Provided enough people sign up). See the Food Plan link above for details. There is a grocery store in Platte 20 minutes away. And there is a small bar and grill at the Snake Creek recreation area about 10 minutes, half way to Platte.
Merchants: Merchants welcome (no charge) but please reserve in advance.
Directions: From the East, take I-90 to exit 289. Head south on SD Highway 45. Continue to Platte. Turn right (west) on SD Highway 44. After crossing the Missouri river take a right (north) on Buryanek Road and follow to site. From the west take I-90 to exit 251. Go on SD 47 South. Turn left (east) on SD Highway 44. Before getting to the river, turn left (north) on Buryanek road and follow to site. Site will be at the end of the road.
